The K-75 ski jump ramp: A leap into the future of architecture

The large ski jump ramp K-75 (K-72) of the Vorobyovy Gory (also known as Sparrow Hills) sports complex is officially completed and ready for operation. The historical landmark, which was dismantled in 2016 for complete reconstruction, has returned in an modernized form. The ski ramp will become an important part of the sports cluster of the capital, where not only skiers who practice directly on the ski ramp, but also athletes of alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing will be able to train.

Special attention is drawn to the exterior of the structure - the start tower and other metal structures are finished with high-quality aluminium panels manufactured by GRADAS. The cladding is made in several design solutions that harmoniously combine modernity, environmental friendliness and a connection to sports history.

Classic white panels in RAL 9001 create a clean, concise and elegant look that perfectly fits into the panorama of the Vorobyovy Gory, emphasizing the lightness of the metal structure. This shade visually facilitates the massive structure and looks great against the Moscow landscapes at any time of the year.

GRADAS facade panels with Gradas Art Wood coating are an innovative technology that imitates the texture of real wood by almost 100%. This type of panels integrates the facility more organic into the forest environment that surrounds the sports complex.

The unique GRADAS panel series with Gradas K-75 Art coating is a real highlight of the project. Thanks to the unique coating technology of the panels, they form a visually seamless artistic mural with the image of an athlete-jumper. The Gradas Art panel coating technology guarantees brightness, fade resistance and durability of the image for decades. This decorative element transforms a functional building into a real art object that inspires athletes and spectators.

The customer of this project was the Mercury construction company. It has been successfully operating in the field of design, construction and reconstruction of buildings and structures since 2007. The ski jump ramp has already been put into operation and is ready to host training sessions and competitions at both national and city levels. The revival of the legendary building has become an important event for Russian winter sports and has graced one of the most picturesque viewing platforms in the capital.
