Ribbon bridgetravel over the lake
Chinese architecture has always been different from European, its main ideas were to find harmony with nature. An excellent example of such an idea is the pedestrian bridge over Lake Dunhuang, connecting the province of Jiangsu and the surroundings of Shanghai.
Chinese architectural traditions are fully embodied in the complex hybrid structure of the bridge, which combines the natural landscape and infrastructure of the two provinces. The structure of the bridge, with a length of 586 meters, resembles a ribbon over the waters of the lake. The bridge deck is six meters wide and is divided into three lanes: a bicycle path, a pedestrian track and a strip withvegetation. It is amazing that the structure of the bridge includes whole zones with trees and bushes, creating the impression of a floating garden connecting the two banks.
Anyone who has decided to cross the lake using this bridge will have an unforgettable journey - you will meet three recreation areas. Expanded areas with oases of greenery and openwork pavilions will allow you to enjoy amazing views and take a break in the shade. Airy geometric designs perform not only an applied task, but also deliver aesthetic pleasure. The silver metallic coating interacts with the water ripples and perfectly fits the natural landscape. Fragments of the white grid of the central zone resemble a fisherman's net, in which it is so easy to get confused and forget about the purpose of traveling on this unusual bridge.
Using modern construction and finishing materials, Chinese designers managed to create a delightful complex that combines nature, transport, landscape and traditions.
